Re: Charging a custom system.
What refrigerant are you using?? R12 or R134 ??
I just noticed the charging ports on your comp are R12 ports.
Also, the data that Tim came up with just above shows the comp is designed to use R12.

Re: Charging a custom system.
Forget the block type valve. You need to determine the direction of rotation, this is very important. Your engine is CCW! You keep thinking also that it is the amount of charge that is wrong with your system. Not really so. You have way too many other issues to sort out. Re-read everyone's posts...t...

Re: Charging a custom system.
The clarifications you have offered are a help, but we have a ways to go. 1. Direction of rotation has not been clarified "FYI: Civic engine rotates CCW. SDS508 Sanden spec is CW rotation because of gear engagement timing verses piston TDC. Timing has a large effect on compressor noise and may ...

Re: Charging a custom system.
I have to admit that this has become one of the most confusing threads I have ever seen here. If we look back at April 2022 it gets even more confusing. Back then It was determined that the proper charge was 23 or 24 oz of refrigerant, so how did we land here now with wanting to use plateau method? ...

Re: Charging a custom system.
Well that is 59*F, which is better but not enough. You really need to start all over, you have air in your system Google this insulating blanket and wire it in place around either the exhaust or the comp, also any hoses Aerogel Insulation Hydrophobic Mat of High Temp. Blanket 12''x12'',Thickness 10M...

Re: Charging a custom system.
" I let a little bit of air let's say about 1.5 seconds to the system," Not good at all. Air in system will kill the performance That comp is ridiculously close to the exhaust, and is killing your performance. Insulate that area. "all I can say is that I have never had engine overheat...

Re: Charging a custom system.
For the USA viewers, 17.5C vent temp is 63*F 35C ambient is 95*F You will not and should not clear a sight glass with R134. If so, you have overcharged. You may be overcharged now. Did you follow along with the pressure readings as you slowly charged up? Did you pull a good vacuum? Do you have too m...

Re: Condenser upside down.
"So with the new receiver and condenser I should add another 1oz of oil right?" YES. If the system were all new and dry, the 5oz that the comp calls for would be circulated around all the components. On the assembly line at the factory, the comps have the required oil and it is then distri...
