Avoid a POA eliminator. You can get the valve recalibrated by any number of places on-line

The system is probably low on refrigerant due to seasonal losses, mostly from the comp shaft. Having said that, that is a lot of miles for a comp. Your desire to change up to new components is a smart one. As far as how much of the front end you have to remove you’ll have to look at the construction...

You really need to get a proper MGS manifold gauge set which gives hi and low pressures if you want to do AC work. You won’t get far without one.
John told you how to check the sight glass and that is a must. I also think the system is low on Freon

Somehow I have missed all the drama until now, tho I did have a few comments. I think this` is an excellent thread on proper diagnosis, and retrograde replacement of parts and the OP should be congratulated . And you can bet the governing viceroys have the best AC of any

Question for John or any of the other consultants
Greetings, we have a 2019 Corolla in the shop which has a clutch less compressor, and the shaft has sheared.
Not having much experience with this type of compressor, I am seeking comments on such and also wondering if this is a common problem, and if there is a way to prevent it from happening.

John is right on, as usual, with all his comments….and I want to specifically underscore to never buy a reman compressor….you’ll end up doing the job all over again in a short amount of time.
