Re: Best way to flush tube/fin condenser at home?

Thanks for the replies. Called 4 shops and no luck getting them to flush just the condenser. I did find one shop that said that they have a drier system on their compressor and that they would be willing to blow it out but probably not the 30 minutes that is recommended in what I have read. My compr...

Best way to flush tube/fin condenser at home?

The condenser is the only part I need to flush. No one has a condenser in stock or can get one any time soon. One of the issues I keep reading about is not getting all of the solvent out of the condenser. What can be used to make sure all of the flush solvent is out of the condenser? I have an air c...

Re: Can I test a R12 system with R134a for a few minutes?

Thank you or removing the links Tim. I just got home within the hour and so didn't have any other time to do it till now. I will make sure not to post any more. I agree with you about the original ford T&F condenser Tim. Almost all of the guys in the older Ford van forums who have converted to R...

Re: Can I test a R12 system with R134a for a few minutes?

No it doesn't have to be a Motorcraft compressor, I just try to make it policy to replace all the parts with Ford or Motorcraft. The ac evaporator and high side hose off the condenser are the only two items that are not Ford or Motorcraft on the whole van. I understand a newer more recent manufactur...

Re: Can I test a R12 system with R134a for a few minutes?

Thanks for the replies! I am going to wait and do everything at once. The only issue might be if I find anything inside once I open the system. If not then it should be good to go (I think). I went a head and ordered 2 more 14oz cans of R12 so I will have a spare in case I accidentally loose some. T...

Re: Can I test a R12 system with R134a for a few minutes?

Thanks! so were back to the R134 question.. You said: Better to evacuate and then puff in a small amt of refrigerant (say up to about 5 psi) while you wait for the next step. I can't use the R12 to do that because it has to come back out and I only have just enough to charge the system with. Can the...

Re: Can I test a R12 system with R134a for a few minutes?

That is an interesting idea Cusser! I do have an empty aluminum oxygen bottle that I could probably adapt. These HVAC guys around my area must be very clean. I went by 2 shops and called 3 but none had any empty cylinders laying around. So i found a guy who said he could recover the refrigerant but ...

Re: Can I test a R12 system with R134a for a few minutes?

Ok guys, an update here. After 2 different HF stores and 100 mile round trip, I bought 2 of the HF leak detectors in case one was bad. I can take the other back to the local store who claimed to have them in stock but didn't. One did seem to work a little better then the other and I will keep that o...

Re: Can I test a R12 system with R134a for a few minutes?

The article i was reading said they hook up a recovery type machine and flush the system with R134 unless I misunderstood. Ok will get pics soon.. There are no drop in replacement condensers available for under $300 right now! I found a parallel condenser that I believe can be modified to fit but wo...
