Re: K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?

I think it would also be useful to get the temp of the pipe going into the cond and the pipe out. Also, we need to know if the larger pipe goes into the top or the bottom of the cond. We understand that you are frustrated. Most of us are from TX, NV, AZ, SC. DetroitAC works in the industry. We ask ...

Re: K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?

well, currently using a red orfice tube which is between the blue and orange. It made little to no difference over the white. started out with 36oz of r134 and it was undercharged. inlet and outlet temperatures were 10 degrees apart. At 48oz the inlet and outlet tube on the evaporator is within 3 de...

Re: K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?

Thanks for the reply. Pretty sure i can rule out 2 orffice tubes. The only other place one could have been would be in the condensor, but i would have seen it when i flushed the system. But, i did move from a white orffice tube to a red orfice tube which does shrink the orffice down to .062 from .07...

Re: K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?

Yes, and i am sure the same would happen now. It is friggin HOT in texas. Getting air does not mean much if it is getting HOT air. Cold water will do it every time. There is a problem with this system. I do not think it is the compressor. And everything else is new but that does not mean it is worki...

Re: K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?

it is a LS swap with a sanden compressor. Specs for the compressor say 6oz of PAG. The C series and the K series actually have different AC systems in 1990-91. The K5s still used the same carry over system from the 85s. While the C went with a newer system along with the surburbans. For instance, th...

K5 r134 conversion, where to go from here? Help?

Background. 90 K5 converted to r143. New condenser parallel flow, new evaporator, new accumulator, tried white and red orffice tubes, both new. Sanden compressor not new but maybe only used a year or two before sitting on a shelf for a year or two. Low pressure switch not changed, no high pressure s...
