Re: Nitrogen leak testing

I pressurized the system and sprayed down the lines to check for leaks. Found the upper condenser fitting leaking, https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/d106/atikovi/leak.jpg I replaced the o-ring and pressurized it again to 175 psi at 7:30 pm yesterday with 76°F. Do I still have a leak or are the...

Re: Nitrogen leak testing

I've been told several times and read a few places to go to 150 psi. That is what psi I use. I usually let mine rest 30-60 minutes but I know some people let it sit overnight. That is what I understood as well. Something I read a long time ago, evap cores are designed for burst pressure of 150psi. ...

Re: Evacuation Procedure

"Your Mileage Might Vary," as the expression goes, but I normally try to evacuate a system for a minimum of one hour. Special circumstances can and do present themselves, though. For example, if a vehicle with an A/C problem comes along and the owner needs it back in about two hours, that...

Thanks for all of the info. I will just plan to vacuum longer in the future.
I recognized you. Think we go back to the original BAT Auto.
Yes we do.

Re: 2007 Ford F350 AC issues.

Tim is the site owner, and runs AMA, Arizona Mobile Air. He is very good. That procedure is such that we suggest it is OK for a fresh clean dry system that has not been flushed and blown dry. Flushing and blow drying with shop air is a whole different story, Shop air is LOADED with moisture. I have...

Re: 2007 Ford F350 AC issues.

I forgot to mention that Tim, a moderator here posted this https://www.autoacforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13603 information in the AC procedures forum which was updated in 2020 because it's basically the same info I printed out in 2006 when I first joined and he states that 30 minutes of evacua...

Re: 2007 Ford F350 AC issues.

Just for the record, a vac time of 30 min is never enough. Moisture will not boil off until 29.9, and once you hit that number, it takes time to get all the water vapor out. Not sure why people rush this important step. The better the vac the better the system will run, and the longer it will run, ...

Re: 2007 Ford F350 AC issues.

Glad it is working but the system is wet. No where near sufficient vacuum time Well, unfortunately I did not see your post about vacuuming for several hours until after I had done the job. He is happy with the performance and actually thinks it's too cold so I guess the next time I run into this, I...

Re: 2007 Ford F350 AC issues.

Latest update: AC seems to be fixed. The owner got everything flushed and put back together and dried out with filtered shop air. He brought it over and I put the vacuum pump on it and vacuumed it down for 30 minutes and let it sit for 30 minutes. Gauges never dropped at all during the 30 minutes. I...
