Re: How's the charge looking on this custom system?
JohnHere, Thank you for your reply.. Just got back from my trip and will be working more on this shortly. Would love to have a simple "old Fashioned" way to do it and have a couple questions on what you wrote. Will ask those once I can phrase them clearly. First I have to re-evacuate my sy...

High side blew, how much oil lost?
High side blew, how much oil lost? I figure it will be a guess so wondering what the experts on here would guess in this scenario. The gauge fitting on the high side got loose and the high side blew all its high side refrigerant while the compressor was running. Interestingly the low side was still ...

Re: How's the charge looking on this custom system?
Unfortunately a computer crash lost the refrigerant oz put in at that time (will try to recover). Was able to recover the lost data – Initially put in 23.1oz 134a 11.5oz oil Yesterday I put in 16.6 oz so total I have in so far: 39.7 oz 134a 11.5 oz oil (29% oil ratio) Based on prior planning calcul...

Re: Pulling Vacuum
As one who is working themselves out of the AC novice label... That is not acceptable. 29" on a gauge isn't accurate enough. You want a Micron Gauge to properly gauge vacuum ($200) to 1st test the pump make sure it is providing adequate vacuum and then to test the system Under 500 on the micron...

Cap for R134a self sealing 12oz can - how to find?
So the self-sealing 12oz cans don't always fully self seal. Is there a cap available for them? The terms "r134a self sealing can cap" yields taps. The tap specs indicate the can side is 1/2" acme but the acme caps found look like they are for valve or pump fittings and seem too tall/d...

Re: How to figure out oil amount for custom system?
Hi Andrew, To determine the oil amount for a custom system, you'll need to consider factors like the system's components and size. Since your compressor came with 3oz of PAG46, that's a good starting point. Check the manufacturer's recommendations for your specific components, and adjust the oil am...

Maybe he needs the money for the new car payments/full coverage insurance 😜 At only 3 years, isn't that cap under warranty? 1) Didn't buy it new 2) No car payments 3) No full coverage 4) Cap is missing 5) No warranty at 245,000 miles Atikovi, yes a razz. As a fellow thrifty guy, I commend your vehi...
