Re: 1993 Honda Accord weak AC after total rebuild

Two of my co-workers had early 1980s Accords in Phoenix and their AC was very good, very cold.

Re: 1993 Honda Accord weak AC after total rebuild

The compressor clutch engages and disengages normally, no problems there, and pressures on the system look great (40 low, 205 high, 85 degrees ambient). The low side line is extremely cold to the touch (not freezing, but very cold) and the high side is hot. I'm wondering if warm or heated air is ge...

Re: 2015 Subaru Forester AC Compressor replacement

And adding refrigerant to meet certain pressures is not the recommended way to get correct refrigerant charge: charging BY WEIGHT is.

Go to a certified independent mechanic.

Re: More RV Problems

Check for AC clutch slippage when the clutch gets hot.

I adjusted my own AC clutch gap last summer to fix a similar issue, removed a thin shim/spacer.

Re: 97 mustang gt compressor doesn’t come on

And the compressor does not click on. I checked for power to the clutch with a multimeter and it was doing something. I’ll have to check it again to see if it’s getting enough juice. So there’s my problem. Any ideas? You're measuring the static pressure because the AC clutch is not engaging. Turn o...

Great question. Tim will say NOT to use a single can type system, those often contain system-destroying sealers !!!

Re: Insulate Liquid Line ?

Would it help to insulate the liquid line from condenser up to orifice tube? Not the way I understand the thermodynamics. I'd option it would be better to insulate from the orifice tube to the evaporator. Also new system is being installed manual says add all 6 oz of mineral oil to compressor, is t...

For what driers cost, I'd just get one that doesn't rattle.

Re: Help identifying an odd fitting

The gov't made manufacturers use a different size high pressure side R-12 fitting so folks could not readily confuse those. There was a GM-type used by GM and Toyota, and a Ford-type used by Ford and Mazda (including my own 1988 Mazda truck). This happened about late 1980s, and I have both types of ...

Re: Jeep Liberty AC Compressor question

Don't overlook that the AC clutch could be slipping. If the AC clutch is getting positive voltage (can test with a light) and the clutch does not engage, high likelihood !!! Last summer I removed an AC clutch shim on my own 1998 Frontier to fix it, and it's stayed working (Arizona heat). I didn't ev...
