Re: Compressor turning question

What does a good compressor feel like? I'm not a professional, have installed about a dozen brand-new compressors is different vehicles. The center drive plate should turn with a wrench with some resistance but not forcing it. I'd rather just buy a new clutch but I don't want to buy a clutch and th...

Re: What size a/c service port cap for 2020 Corolla?

Dealer wants $13 for just one high side cap. See these on Ebay for under $1. Any idea which one? Get cap from the dealer for $13. You have a relatively new vehicle (2020) and you're getting cheap over this??? (My newest vehicle is a 2004 Frontier !) What's really sad is that there are multiple caps...

Re: Vintage AC System Questions

I'm not an AC professional.

But I use 525 mineral oil with the R-12 in my 1988 Mazda truck. I use a compressor I purchased brand-new in 2014 from Tim, board sponsor. ackits.com

Re: Drain oil out of new compressor?

My replacement compressor comes loaded with oil, some say drain and refill but Im not sure why? I'm not an AC professional. 1. The oil in the replacement compressor might be of the incorrect type. In the early 2000s I once purchased a replacement compressor (from this board's sponsor) for my 1988 M...

Re: Reusing R134A

I'm not an AC professional.

Using my home-made recovery system (which uses dry ice and alcohol), I have recovered and re-used both R-12 and R134a.

Re: What is best way to seal up/get ready a system for later vacuum and charge?

A modern AC recovery/fill machine can do this at 80F.

If you leave the system empty or under vacuum, air and moisture can enter.

If it ever got colder than 80F here in Phoenix, I'd still fill my vehicles.
