Re: Condenser upside down.
Typically, I add about 1/2-ounce to each on replacement with new components. Of course, this is guesswork unless you're starting with a completely "dry" system and adding exactly to specifications. Then, you can "oil balance" the system or add all the oil into the compressor if i...

Re: Condenser upside down.
Unless it has an oil cooler in it or an integral R/D—which looking at the photos, your universal condenser does not have—just turn it over so that it's in the correct orientation fitting-wise. Condensers that DO have an oil cooler and/or R/D would have the fittings in the correct orientation anyway,...

Re: AC is AC.........Caterpillar backhoe
Have you measured the clutch gap and/or tried nudging the front of the clutch with a suitable wood tool, like a section of 2x2, to see whether it engages? The clutch gap might be too wide for the clutch coil to pull-in the driven disk, or the coil itself might be defective in some way as mentioned. ...

Re: Toyota Auris A/C not working?
The problem was because the system was low in pressure. And therefore low on refrigerant, as we thought. I hope it lasts. Did the shop check the system for leaks, and did they find any? If not, the leakage might be slight seasonal losses from the front compressor seal. Took it to a A/C workshop who...

Re: Separate Systems for each Refrigerant ?
I believe that a separate recovery/recharge machine is required by regulation for each refrigerant type. At least a couple of manufacturers are now producing EPA-approved RRR machines designed to handle both R-134a and R-1234yf simultaneously. The Konfort 780R Bi-Gas is one that recently appeared i...

Re: Separate Systems for each Refrigerant ?
When searching a forum before asking a possibly redundant question, seeing topic title -"Situation XYZ (SOLVED)" is one I'll be clicking on first The only way I can think of to do that is to start another duplicate topic with "solved" at the end of it. As far as I know (and I'm ...

Re: 10S20F Performance Chart
I know what I would do if it were my van and I were the only one that would ever work on. Block off the rear A/C and replace the front OT with a TXV? Or make custom lines and replace the compressor with a V7, leaving everything else as is? I replaced the GM White 0.072" tube with a Ford Red 0....

No need to mark this thread "solved." You said it, and most if not all of the Forum's consultants will see your comment.robertdaleweir wrote: ↑Wed Sep 13, 2023 7:57 am Not sure how to mark this question solved but I now know what I need to do.

Re: refilling a large r134a self-sealing can?
Taking the discussion further, why not just purchase a 30-pound cylinder and be done with it? I know R-134a is more costly nowadays, but the upside is you'll have plenty of refrigerant to use in the future should you need it...and you probably will. Also invest in a good refrigerant scale so that yo...
