Re: Compressor/mag clutch noise - death rattle sound?
Three years ago the AC on our 2005 Yukon started breaking its small AC belt (separate from the main serpentine belt). After replacing the belt a couple of times, read that low position of compressor on engine caused slugging, and caused belt breakage. And AC worked great until the belt would break, ...

Re: Compressor/mag clutch noise - death rattle sound?
I'd pull the belt that turns the compressor and spin the idler pulley by hand, see if the pulley feels bad or makes a noise, I've had bad AC idler pulley on my Frontier. If it is compressor making the noise - have a local mechanic you use? If bad compressor, replace before more debris from the compr...

Re: 1976 Firebird A/C HELP!
Don't most R-12 systems read about 30 psi low and 260-280 psi at about 1500 rpm with all fans working, at about 85F ambient?? Did you charge by weight to system specifications?? Did you use cans - all doesn't get in !!

Re: Car AC Issues
Hi, I have a 2006 Nissan Murano that is having issues with its AC. Last year I changed out the electromagnet in the AC clutch since it burned out. After a few months of cold air it stopped working. Do you mean that the AC clutch is no longer engaging, or that it is engaging and the air is coming ou...

Re: A/C system 100% new and not working right
I did find the re-circulation door was not opening to the recirculation position. It is now open and the vent temp has dropped to 50 degrees. 1250 RPM low side pressure 28 psi high side pressure 260 psi Your pressures don't look too bad. Your 50 degrees - I assume that's while parked and running 12...

Re: A/C Oil Drain Plug
I have a 2007 Nissan Murano. In the process of replacing the alternator a few weeks ago, there was a mistake in which the a/c compressor oil drain plug was loosened and let all the freon out. Actually, it wasn't freon that was lost in your 2007 but R134a. If a shop did this, they should handle the ...

Re: 2012 elantra
So i engaged my clutch manually, and was blowing ice cold air almost instantly, ran it for 4-5 minutes, no issues what so ever! My wife had been trying to run the a/c all week. In general, that's too long to engage an AC clutch by bypassing the protective circuits, one could cause damage if refrige...

Re: Fog and refrigerant blown out of vents during recharge
Soapy water is fine for leak checking, but I've never used nitrogen for pressurization. I'm sure it works for that, just that I've never tried it. I used soapy water about 18 years ago to confirm a leak in the evaporator of my 1988 Mazda truck. Nitrogen could be used for leak detection, I'd hold un...

Re: 75psi on high and low side
It sounds like the AC clutch on the compressor is not engaging. Is the CENTER part of the compressor actually turning, or just the outer rim of the pulley?

Re: Adding UV leak detector question.
When adding freon or leak detector to my vehicle's AC system does the AC compressor clutch needs to be engaged either while or before I'm adding? Not if you add the UV dye BEFORE you evacuate and then add freon. And same if your vehicle uses R134a. Or if you add a can of refrigerant containing UV d...
