Tim wrote:How are you trying to charge the system Single can from autozone or full gauge set?
Great question. Tim will say NOT to use a single can type system, those often contain system-destroying sealers !!!

Re: Insulate Liquid Line ?

Would it help to insulate the liquid line from condenser up to orifice tube? Not the way I understand the thermodynamics. I'd option it would be better to insulate from the orifice tube to the evaporator. Also new system is being installed manual says add all 6 oz of mineral oil to compressor, is t...

For what driers cost, I'd just get one that doesn't rattle.

Re: Help identifying an odd fitting

The gov't made manufacturers use a different size high pressure side R-12 fitting so folks could not readily confuse those. There was a GM-type used by GM and Toyota, and a Ford-type used by Ford and Mazda (including my own 1988 Mazda truck). This happened about late 1980s, and I have both types of ...

Re: Jeep Liberty AC Compressor question

Don't overlook that the AC clutch could be slipping. If the AC clutch is getting positive voltage (can test with a light) and the clutch does not engage, high likelihood !!! Last summer I removed an AC clutch shim on my own 1998 Frontier to fix it, and it's stayed working (Arizona heat). I didn't ev...

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling

Or you could just turn AC on as soon as you start a cold engine, while the coolant is still cool. If you get anything better than 70F vent - and ideally this has to happen in a few secs with a brand new compressor and a properly charged and oiled system, more so when in the shade - reheating is you...

Re: 2000 Excursion Rear AC Issues

Yes it dropped from the 325 when I misted the condenser. I have a fan clutch in the garage which I haven’t installed due to the truck not overheating. When my '98 Frontier developed a pinhole in its high pressure line on a 119F afternoon a few years ago, I also found that its fan clutch was bad, an...

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling

Vent temp: 70 One thing I would like to point out is the low side line feels ice cold like a can right out of the refrigerator. The vent temp stays around 70 but still has a funny kind of musty smell to it. Hopefully this will help diagnosis. Hold on - if the low side line at the evaporator is ice ...

You need to check to make sure that heated air is not being introduced to the air flow.

Re: 99 Maxima poor cooling

If you're in north Phoenix, I'd take to Smart Automotive on north Cave Creek Rd.

If you're south or in east valley, take to Salem Boys Auto in Tempe.

Folks form the north don't realize that a 1999 vehicle in Arizona can still be pristine.
