Take the ass'y to a local welding shop and have them TIG weld it and be done with this.

The way I read that is 4 lbs.24 oz so it's 4 1/4 lbs.

Look up the circuit a Dodge Sprinter 2006 and see how they have it set up. They have exactly what you want.

The system must not leak. Pulling a vacuum and using soap and bubbles will not work. Put some refrigerant in the system and use an electric sniffer to find the leak .I suspect you compressor shaft seal is bad/leaking due to the system not working for such a long time but this is only a guess. Your best bet on finding one is the second hand market. Trying to source a brand new one for such an old vehicle will likely yield poorly assembled, and who knows what's inside the power head (=how much oil it returns to the compressor in critical operating conditions), Chinese garbage.
