Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

Yeah I'm glad also, put a lot of time and work in it and you helped me quite a bit along the way! :D I do want to dial it in to get optimal performance. Factory spec called for 1 3/4 pounds. We put 2 1/3 12oz cans in the system, but I didn't think the evaporator lines were as cold as the should be, ...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

I installed a new TXV this weekend and that appears to have taken care of the problem! Everything appears to be operating normally now, but the output air in the cabin is just a little cooler than ambient so I think I have heat leaking through from the heater core.

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

yeah I thought it was crazy as well and am glad the TXV and sensing bulb were unwrapped or I might have been chasing my tail even longer. I am thinking it's more of the sensing bulb malfunctioning because that is what I was heating up with the rag with hot water on it so hopefully not anything else ...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

I will have to take a closer look at the TXV valve to see if there is a sight glass. I am pretty sure the factory setup has the sight glass right behind the outlet of the receiver drier and it was built into the line that connected to the receiver drier. I messed around with it a little more tonight...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

Unfortunately some nimrod "custom" made hoses for it, at least I think they are a/c hoses because they say Four Seasons on them, and there is no more sight glass. :x I think 325 was the highest I really saw it after putting the hose to the condenser and ambient temp was probably 82. Thanks...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

That's good to hear insulating the bulb should fix the hunting issue. I was beginning to get scared that it was a sign of the compressor going out and that it didn't have enough left in it is why it wouldn't hit 400psi anymore. Since the pressure is still somewhat high do you think I should replace ...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

Ok that is very good to hear I'm most likely not dealing with a collapsed liner. I have not seen any swelling or leaking in any of the hoses. What is weird is I never saw that hunting before and now the high side doesn't go up as high as it did before which it would almost immediately shoot up to 40...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

Came home from work and messed around with the A/C for a while. I fired the car up, hooked up the gauges, turned on the A/C and after about a minute or so the high side got up to about 300 so I set the garden hose on mist and squirted it right at the inlet of the condenser, the high pressure instant...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

Ahh, I got you, a different design could change system capacity. This one looks like a stocker to the best of my knowledge. I don't think it's overcharged anyway because the output air never got cold, just slightly cool like when a system is low on charge. I thought the same thing about the compress...

Re: Need Help- High Pressure on Discharge Side

I'm not sure I follow you on the charge level should be ok if it has the tube and fin condenser.

Yes, the compressor has 3-way service valves, I just replace them also. I also have only been opening it 1/4 turn to get a gauge reading, but center it to vacuum or charge, about 2 turns
