Re: 1996 geo metro ac oil?
I also see from my source documentation that the 1.32-pounds R-134a spec (21.12 ounces) that you mentioned is only for the 1997 Geo Metro. The oil spec is the same, though: 3.50 ounces of PAG-46.

Re: 1996 geo metro ac oil?
Here's what my reference documentation says for the 1995-1996 Geo Metro, all engines:
18.00 ounces R-134a
3.50 ounces PAG-46
18.00 ounces R-134a
3.50 ounces PAG-46

Re: Toyota pickup AC questions
R-12 to R-134a conversions like this don't usually cool quite as well as the original R-12 refrigerant did. But to make it work satisfactorily, this conversion requires some specific procedures that must be completed before evacuating and recharging a system with the new refrigerant. Your intentions...

Re: Ford Bronco 2 AC questions
One of the questions that came to mind earlier was the orientation of the OT. The long part with the screen should face toward the condenser.

Re: PAG OIL IN COMPRESSOR? (99 Ford Ranger)
I just noticed that your question went answered for some reason. It's a tough one. I know it's not what you want to hear, but the only way to know for sure is to remove the compressor, drain it, and carefully measure what comes out. For your vehicle, my reference source specifies 30 ounces of R-134a...

Re: testing condenser and evaporator for obstructions/fouling ?
Interesting thoughts, but I've never heard of doing that. Normally, an evaporator can leak but doesn't clog because any debris that makes it past the condenser and dryer will stop at the OT screen or TXV. A condenser definitely can clog with debris shed from a disintegrating compressor. But the cond...

Re: Ford Bronco 2 AC questions
I have several questions and concerns. But first of all, given the pressures you posted, it sounds like a lack of airflow across the condenser. What kind of fan(s) does this truck have and is it (are they) working properly? If the fan has a viscous clutch, how old is it? Does the fan roar noticeably...

Re: 99 Caddy blows O ring compressor high side
The small 4 oz can of dye + R134a is mostly refrigerant. Got it...good! Seems like the OL BLACK DEATH GETS a lot of the parts house compressors. The system probably wasn't rebuilt correctly. The accumulator looks original. ORT in backwards! OEM condensor, etc. All new parts & a good drawdown ou...

Re: 99 Caddy blows O ring compressor high side
Oh, oh...four ounces of UV dye is way too much. You need less than one-fourth of that amount next time, only about one-half ounce or so. Flushing the evaporator and lines (if they don't have mufflers), then installing the new components sounds like a good plan. Even with a full charge, the new compr...

Re: 99 Caddy blows O ring compressor high side
Okay, I posted before I saw your second post. If you have Black Death, the compressor is toast. The system will need to be flushed and components replaced.
