That noise could simply be compressor clutch chatter which would simply your repair efforts. No need to bleed down the system. No need for oil and much less cost than doing an entire compressor.

Re: 2005 Mustang sat for 4 years - A/C is system is empty
Hello, My guess is that an o-ring seal dried out from sitting so long. The compressor oil tends to separate from the refrigerant after a while thus allowing the o-ring to leak. So don't be surprised to find a leaky o-ring. You might try adding a can of refrigerant with oil mixed in already to see if...

Re: Classic car ac help
Hello, I'm happy with the Classic Auto Air conditioning system in my 70 El Camino. This is a total replacement of everything from the original GM / Chevy / Harrison air conditioning system. No more vacuum operated controls in the system - all electric. It uses R134 refrigerant, not R12. I'm quite ha...

Re: Finding A Leak In A New System
A soap solution will hopelessly contaminate your system. Use some refrigerant with an ultraviolet dye color chemical in it. Charge the system and then use a UV light to see the leaky location.

Re: Resurrecting 1970 GM AC with POA
Excellent write up here and I also had a Nova is high school. Very well done here but I do have a question. Since it appears that Doc's Blocks is no longer in business, who would you buy your connectors and fittings at the compressor from? I'm about to embark on adding Classic Air to my 70 El Camino...

Denso AC Compressor - Fixed or Variable Output?
Hello, This is my first post here and as I work through this upcoming project, I hope to be able to contribute to the body of knowledge on the site. I'm about to purchase a Classic Air Conditioning kit for my 70 El Camino with a 1999 GMC Sierra 5.3 liter LM7 truck engine. I wish to retain the origin...
