BTW, I did go overboard and buy the bigger Mastercool 69100 recovery machine kit. Tracking information says that it should be here on the 15th of the month.
Once I have time to use it I'll recover the refrigerant in the system, weigh it and let everyone know how much is in there.

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
This afternoon I finally got around to disassembling the entire Ram Air filter assembly that covers the top of the radiator and condenser. Once it was all apart it was apparent that there was little to no restriction. There was one cellophane cigarette package wrapper caught at the top of the radiat...

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
B52, I just did some internet searching to see if I could find a wattage rating for the fans and I came up with nothing. I can look at the fan motors later in the week when I take things apart. Maybe I'll get lucky and there will be something useful on the fan's sticker.

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
That machine you posted does not reclaim. It is only for recovery. You would have to use new refrigerant if you used that machine. And as mentioned, it does not separate refrigerant from oil. Yes, only a recovery machine. I've also looked at the Mastercool 69000 which does separate the oil. More mo...

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
Sorry Danny. After a19 starts clogging up a thread with useless junk I just scroll to the end - where I see pressures as high as 400 psi. I missed the part where you sprayed the condenser. You say the fan blows well. But what is well? is it 75% of what it did when brand new? The only metric we have...

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
So it sounds like only 1/2-1 oz of oil would come out of my Trans Am's ac system during a refrigerant recovery. According to Rock Auto, my car should have PAG150 type oil. Unfortunately, the little Robinair RG3 doesn't come with an oil separator so I would have to just guess on how much PAG150 to ad...

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
Earlier in this thread I had mentioned a Robinair RG3 recovery machine. In addition to the Trans Am that I'm currently working on, I have two project cars in the garage that will need ac work. My wife suggests that I just buy the recovery equipment and be able to do what I need to do when I need to ...

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
bohica, thank you for your information as well. When my electric fans were running on high, I was able to get my hand behind the passenger side fan and confirm that it was pulling a lot of air. I wasn't able to get my hand in a good position to confirm that the driver's side fan was pulling the same...

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
This non-working ac system is bothering me so I had to go outside and do yet another test. Those low H pressures that I got earlier today are not consistent with the higher H pressures I saw 3 days ago. Ambient temp had increased to 90F. I restarted the car and the radiator fans running on low. Idle...

Re: 2002 Pontiac Ram Air Trans Am ac is not cooling properly
A19, thank you for your information. I'm planning on just replacing the OT with another black OT when I open up the system. I did notice on Rock Auto that they do offer "Premium" automatic adjusting orifice tubes but I'm going to stick with the OEM AC Delco part for less than 3 bucks.
