Oil in an RV engine AC compressor
1999 Chevrolet P30 chassis (as far as I can tell), with a 7.4L engine, who knows what evaporator, and a giant old-fashioned tube and fin condenser. I've noticed that the compressor is mounted much higher than any other part of the AC system, if it matters. Replaced the compressor because the belt th...

Valves that don't seal by design... Yet another one of GM's many 'improvements', harrumph.

Re: Replace GM High Side Service Port with Schrader?
The Dorman 800-955 is a direct replacement, with an actual schrader valve inside.

Re: Replace GM High Side Service Port with Schrader?
It upsets me too to see them fail but if it's the original valve, that thing is 16years old. I'd say that's a pretty long service life. I think the reason the valve failed is because the gauges damaged it. Yeah, I hear you - 16 years isn't bad...but then the schrader valves in my '71 Buick are all ...

Re: Replace GM High Side Service Port with Schrader?
Nope, the original one is shot. No cap is going to seal this one... Looks like the Dorman Products 800-955 is a Schrader Valve replacement for AC Delco 15-5438 / GM 52458184, I'm going to get my hands on one this afternoon and see, then post results here. (With all the EPA freak-out over venting ref...

Replace GM High Side Service Port with Schrader?
2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3 V8, the high side valve leaks. I thought it was a standard schrader valve in there, but noooooo, GM had to come up with a new and improved (not really) valve. I can easily get the GM OEM-style valve, but is there a good replacement that uses a standard Schrader valve? From r...

Re: Compressor: 1999 P-30 Chassis Motorhome
Wow, I hope that's not directed at me? I saw your earlier post saying that an HT6 was the correct compressor, but was unable to login and reply from my iphone yesterday, and I just now got back here on a desktop.bohica2xo wrote:Pearls before swine.
At any rate, thanks for the info!

Compressor: 1999 P-30 Chassis Motorhome
Working on a friend's 1999 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome with a Chevy 7.4L engine, the installed compressor has a sticker with: Valero Compressors VC6 R134a Part Number: 10000582 Mfg Date: 20110221 Oil: PAG 46. 180cc Made in P.R.C. This compressor's pulley bearing had died a horrible death, allowing t...

Re: Opinions: building a Mark IV(?) under dash system
Need to learn about variable displacement compressors - I assume they work with a standard TXV?
Thanks ice for the info, I'll look for that ref book on vintages site.
Any answers about pics of the ackits.com Evap units?

Re: Opinions: building a Mark IV(?) under dash system
Thanks, I was hoping that y'all had underdash evaporators. Are there any available pictures of them, and prices?
Also, any opinions on Compressors, etc?
