Re: Can a vacuum pump be "bad" despite pulling to proper Hg vacuum?
Well, I don't have a micron gauge and looks like they are not cheap enough that I'd care to get one just as a test. I mean for the cost of a micron gauge I can just buy a whole new good quality pump. Let's say I did have a micron gauge though, and let's say my pulls were coming out to 500 microns on...

Can a vacuum pump be "bad" despite pulling to proper Hg vacuum?
Is it at all possible that a vacuum pump could still pull down to ~28 Hg on the manifold gauge set (as mine does) but yet somehow NOT properly vacuum/remove all the moisture in the system? :? Trying to figure out why my past couple of projects are all spitting out ~60 degree vent temps for no good r...

Re: Put a bend in new suction hose to match OE
I don't know if it's from initial storage/shipping loops of bulk hose but AC hose definitely prefers to always stay curved in the same direction as the way it was curved when cut off the big spool. I have made a lot of custom AC hose kits over the years and learned long ago not to try to go "ag...

Re: Does a home vacuum pump extract oil along with refridgerant?
No, oil is not pulled out with the vacuum. However, you also said "along with refrigerant" - to be clear, you do not "extract" refrigerant with a vacuum pump. That factory write up is fairly convoluted and worded odd. Empty the system, add your correct oil type (usually ester oil...

New R12 AC system in Dodge D150 blowing relief valve - lack of condenser airflow?
I just installed an entirely 100% new system in my 89 Ram D150 318. Every single component brand new. I stayed R12 and added exact amount of R12 by weight with my refrigerant scale. Added 44 ounces total. It has a brand new fan clutch and condenser and the shroud which fits around condenser and radi...

Stumped - incessant cycling and pressures all out of whack (video included)
This is an LS transplant with complete 01-02 Chevy Camaro ECM/wiring/electronics/compressor/pressure switch. We are not using the GM condenser, evap, or expansion valve however. Only thing "custom" are the lines/hoses that my brother and I built which connect the GM compressor to the evap/...
