R12 Charging Problem
Been working on the 1992 Buick r12 AC for over 2 months now - I have studied the charging procedure over and over - every single piece of hardware is new - held great vacuum . Did all my pre-checks....Today was the big day to finally charge and then ...flop.. With the car off, I charged one 12oz. R1...

Re: Accumulator fitting - see pic
There really isn't play in the connection - it will hold a vacuum...but I am just surprised that I can pull out the line going into the Accumulator - if I really want to...The nut that slides over the connection and threads into the Accumulator is over an inch wide - so its big..

Accumulator fitting - see pic
Hi All, I have a concern about the larger line in the pic that goes into the accumulator. Even if I fully tighten and thread the fitting together, I am able to still pull the mating connection apart with my hands. Shouldn't the threaded coupling keep the line together tight enough so that I cannot p...

O-Ring Sizes
A general question about O-Ring sizes in the O-Ring kits that you can buy for your specific car (1992 Buick). How do you know what the correct diameter and thickness is of the O-ring that you are installing on the line connections ? It seems that there are different sizes that will fit - some tighte...

Retro Kit Valve
I installed the retro kit screw on my low and high valves to my old R12 system - even though I am keeping the car an R12 car. The reason I have them installed is so my loaner gauges will work (r134 fittings). Question for the Low side valve: Can I leave my lower/original Schrader valve installed and...

Leak testing with shop air
Its an empty R12 system with Mineral Oil and UVDye installed - but I don't have access to Nitrogen - so I'd like to be able to pressurize with normal shop air. I know air 's got moisture in it but I have another Accumulator that I can put on (and ruin) in the process of leak testing. I can put the n...

Re: Compressor will not cycle with LPCO jumpered
For no reason whatsoever, the clutch decided to come on when I randomly turned on the AC again!! When it did I checked the voltage again at the LPCO. I noticed that when the clutch came on I got 12V on the DARK BLUE wire and 0V on the light blue. I swapped the 2 wires on the back of the LPCO and it ...

Re: Compressor will not cycle with LPCO jumpered
I am getting only 9.7V at both wires at the LPCO and the same on both wires at the HPCO. To trace upstream, I traced/pierced the light green wire ( that is supposed to connect to a DRK GRN/YEL wire) up through the loom up right before the firewall - and got about the same 9.50V. ... I suppose the on...
