Re: potential leak prior to evacuation/recharge - how to find
I'm NOT a pro, so keep that in mind here. I still use R-12 in one of my trucks. Since you are using R-12 (expensive, though plentiful and available), I wouldn't add any R-12 until a nitrogen leak test AND vacuum-holding test show no leakage. I've heard of folks adding a can of R134a after evacuatio...

Re: A6 oil capacity after install with new filter/dryer
Not much is draining out of old compressor. Not uncommon. Do I fill the compressor at the little stub that has the plug or pour in the suction side? Not on A6, but when I've added oil to a new compressor, I first drain (through suction port) and measure how much oil is in the compressor. Then I add...

Re: 06 Toyota Tacoma no cooling
Wait for an AC pro to reply.
If mine, I'd likely go with a brand-new compressor (not a rebuilt), a new condenser, and new drier, and backflush the lines from drier back to compressor with AC solvent/flush.
Parts are available from site sponsor ackits.com

Re: Low side low, high side high! Help!
As Tim said, fan shroud will help a lot. If a clutched fan, how old? The viscous coupling wears out (thins out) and will not drive the fan at the correct speed. If new, you are OK. But we have posters here whose only problem is a bad fan clutch. I swapped out the fan clutches on both my 1998 and 20...

"AC Problem" turned out to be something else
"AC Problem" turned out to be something else. 1988 Mazda truck, B2200, mine since 1994. Last month when 90F outside I noticed that my AC wasn't working properly (and only 2 more months until summer here in Arizona); the LED light I'd added parallel to the compressor wire was lit on the das...

Re: 2010 Murano Not cold, maybe Drier?
I'm back in !!! I guess I'm a little smarter than I was yesterday, and this morning I Googled how to set up an "exception" to the site URL in Avast, so now I can get in to the site !!! SUCCESS !!! Anyway, my comment is that one will never get a full 12 oz. from a refrigerant can; I figure...

Re: Damages caused by failed A/C compressor
When the compressor seized on my 1988 Mazda B2200 truck in 2014, I bought a brand new compressor and drier from ACkits.com, and backflushed the serpentine condenser and high pressure lines with solvent. When the compressor kept breaking small AC belt on our high-miles 2005 Yukon about 2016, I gamble...

Re: recovering R12 - antique recovery machine - useable/worth it?
I still have one R-12 vehicle myself. I do have cans of R-12 stored, all bought for less than $2 a can in "those days". I have used my vacuum pump and a small canister no longer needed by my workplace to recover R-12. Nowadays, I'd have to buy dry ice to do this (I'd use surplus from work ...
