Black death? Dry soot?

1987 Chevy R30 truck. H6 compressor was brand new about 18 months ago. Entire system had been replaced with new components back then - evap, condenser, accumulator, compressor and all lines. Used 8oz of PAG46. System worked great until last winter. Discovered a leak between the case halves on the H6...

Re: Upgrade from H6 to ??

That just might work!! I'll need to verify, but I think my stock compressor mounts are independent of everything else.

Do you have a link to that in the store? I'd love to convert to a Sanden.

This will give me an excuse to replace my line crimp set that got stolen.

Upgrade from H6 to ??

Vehicle is my 1987 Chevy R30, CC, Dually, 454. Last year after having issues, I replaced everything in the system - compressor, condenser, evaporator, receiver/dryer and all hoses. Converted to R134. It worked great in the AZ heat and cruising on the freeway I could get the cab uncomfortably cold wh...

Mist your condenser with water when it is running and let us know what the high side does.

Re: Adding electric fans to antique car

Look at the fan controllers from DC Controls. They vary the fan speed based on need, and they can be commanded easily from the A/C circuit.

Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues

Test the pressures at full load Doors open, cabin fan on highest speed. Raise the engine rpm to 1800+ RPM, and hold it there for one minute. While the engine speed is above 1800, record the high and low side pressures. Post the pressures and the ambient temperature. Those were the conditions for th...

Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues

Well I finally got the time to finish everything up and get it charged this weekend. Factory R12 charge is 52 ounces. It vacuumed down nicely and all was good. I pushed in the first can as liquid with the system off and into the high side port. Started charging it up and interior temps were steadily...

Serp to parallel condenser affect on capacity

In switching to R134, I upgraded the serpentine condenser to a parallel (and I'll be swapping to a parallel in my XJ also). I'm wondering how this affects the overall volume of the system. I think it will throw the 80% rule out the window on the R12>R134 conversion. So then do I just charge by press...

Re: AC Pressure readings are high [PICS]

The electric cooling fans on those do go bad. Make sure the electric fan is good and that the mechanical fan clutch is in good shape.

Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues

Any thoughts on how converting to this condenser - http://www.ackits.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=46963&search=CN+3642PFC Is going to affect overall system capacity? I think this throws the whole "80% rule" out the window on the 134a capacity. So charge by pressur...
