Re: Cooling The Old Condenser
Early Camaros had that little square crossflow radiator as I recall. Do you have room for a 25" wide condenser core? What about height? If you can measure the core size on the radiator that would help. The old condenser is 14 X 25. The radiator core is 18 X 23. I should be able to get a close ...

Re: Cooling The Old Condenser
You answer your own questions. You need more efficient airflow or a more efficient condenser. My choice would be cond but might have to use a universal and make hoses. With the new clutch fan and foam seals in place I'm probably getting just about as much air flow as is possible in this setup (unle...

Re: Cooling The Old Condenser
Is it possible I am slightly over-charged? I'm charged per the spec -- but would you expect to see the pressure lower than 250 with water on the condenser? If 250 is OK then I'm fine on the charge, and we're back to needing a PF condenser. But with water on it, would you prefer to see something lowe...

Original condenser. No blockages as far as I can tell. It flushes out fast and easy.Tim wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 12:57 pmAgreed, is this a PF cond or the original?tbirdtbird wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 12:43 pm for me personally I feel as though 375 is a bit over the top

Re: Cooling The Old Condenser
At about 1500RPM the HP wants to stabilize around 375. Hosing the condenser drops it to 250 fast - and when it has been watered the pressure rises more slowly than when the condenser starts out at 85 - 90 deg air temp. With it steady at 250 with water on it (and cooling nicely), would you think othe...

Re: Cooling The Old Condenser
The fan depth is less important than the radial clearance. Running a shroud with an extra inch of radial clearance is much worse than the depth issue. Obviously radial clearance was dictated by rubber engine mount clearance. As long as you have at lest half of the fan inside the shroud the tip spil...

Re: Cooling The Old Condenser
Just for reference, a mid 80's Chevy Truck with giant t&F cond and R12. Had high side in the 350 to 400 range. Shutting down at 300 is again the World being scared by too much internet reading. It would help if you found out where it will stabilize. If the high side gets to 425, then shut it do...

Re: Cooling The Old Condenser
First, a PF condenser is about 100 bucks. Then, while we have some really really sharp guys on here, if you ask any racer (not a hot rodder, but a guy who actually races on a track; and they have to get it right) as mentioned, the best fan performance is with the rear of the blades sticking out fro...

Re: Cooling The Old Condenser (UPDATE)
Well, I've got the 6-blade fan and the fan clutch - and the fan is in the right place. I've added the foam insulation that blocks air from entering the radiator from the periphery - so almost all the air is being pulled through the condenser when idling. If I keep the hose spraying the condenser, HP...
