You are correct, compression fittings are nearly useless. Flare fittings are used on copper tubing in residential and commercial HVAC all the time. Have refitted copper on a commercial freezer box (-40°) using flare, as was the original. Use Nylog on the flare, and be sure they are tight. However, c...

I'm on a couple of HVAC forums and have seen how they set up their trees. Never a word about black hoses, tho.

Doug, I am not familiar with the black hoses. Do these entirely replace the traditional red-blue-yellow setup? Or are they used for vacuum only.
