In a perfect world every one would vacuum system for 1 hour and vacuum hold test for 30mins with a micron gauge .
Yes u need to check gauges as these can leak by not completely turning ""off"" eg valve seating . Another issue canbe hose sealing etc at connections .

If the system is overfull with oil it will be spread around the system
replace drier
flush reoil compressor
flush condensor
flush hoses and hard line

remove clean evaporater fins
flush evap
new T/X valve

evac and charge

HI would be most likely a debris blocked evaporator causing freezing of the core. Be the first job I would do. Sometimes the vent airflow can be reduced but only only occasionally noticeable . hi At firewall liquid line evap connection. Both liquid line are 1x male and 1x female no6 fittings xtra condensor inlet no8. In this case u use a step up fitting no6 hose with no8 fitting condensor out let is no 6 In 1x conversion the evap connections were no5 .These were cuttoff and no6 welded on.
