Re: R134 added to R12 system
Shorted the pressure switch and compressor engages? And you had leakage? I think that you still have a leak. My guess is that some shop in Colorado Springs area will be able to do R-12 - the refrigerant must match your refrigerant oil - call independent shops, see if there's a real AC shop around, e...

Re: R134 added to R12 system
Ladies, Gentlemen, Have a situation. Was having some work done on a 90 1.6L 220k mi. Mazda & Tech says very little R12 escaped while he was working on a coolant line. Says he took the protective cap off to get at a coolant line, and hit the Schrader valve a couple times. A/C worked fine prior t...

Re: R134 added to R12 system
1. Very "coincidental" that AC worked fine before such repair and now you have a condenser leak. 2. I thought a tech would know that it was not good to add R134a to an R-12 system, and if a tech converts to R134a that there needs to be a sticker stating that. Did tech actually add R134a th...

Re: High side line temp from comp thru condensor and up to h block
My question is should the high side line temp get cooler in the middle of condensor on its way to dryer. Inlet to comp is too hot to touch. Outlet is warm to hot and can be touched At the inlet to the condenser, the refrigerant is a hot gas. As the refrigerant gets cooled by the condenser (sheds so...

Re: 1994 Chevy 1500 AC clutch clicking on and off
Original compressor was leaking freon straight out of the compressor instantly so it has never even worked at all. Yes I vacuumed it for 45 minutes straight, was sucked down to 27 in hg, let it sit for 30 minutes and vacume never leaked. I put 8 ounces of oil in compressor before assembly, plus 2 a...

Re: 1994 Chevy 1500 AC clutch clicking on and off
I hope you pull adequate vacuum first--and you always charge by weight- not pressures in automotive a/c....so don't ask for pressure specs- there are none...just opinions And pressures are less helpful anyway if not measured at appropriate rpm like (1800 rpm) with system running at that rpm a coupl...

Could be just the static pressure that you're reading because the compressor hasn't yet kicked in.Salteedogg54 wrote:The thing is, I couldn't even get all of the first can in, because the low side pressure is at a 100 psi! Is it normal for low psi to be that high on 1can?

Re: 1997 Sebring 2.5L A/C warm (details inside)
There are no leaks. Hmmm - "famous last words". 175 is low for high side pressure measured at 1800 rpm, you should next have the refrigerant pulled out and weighed, I suspect a leak. Leaks can even occur from bad service valve caps. Its a JX.... I borrowed my friends recovery machine and ...

Re: GM R4 Compressor - New Scroll Design. Better than Piston Type ?
Unless you dealt with R4's when they were common in daily drivers 15+ years ago you don't appreciate what a headache they were. My only experience with R4 compressors was on my own '88 and '94 Suburbans, which were orifice tube in front and expansion valve in the rear. The 1988 was R-12, the 1994 f...
