That noise could simply be compressor clutch chatter which would simply your repair efforts. No need to bleed down the system. No need for oil and much less cost than doing an entire compressor.

A soap solution will hopelessly contaminate your system. Use some refrigerant with an ultraviolet dye color chemical in it. Charge the system and then use a UV light to see the leaky location.
