Re: Forgot more than I know

If you go to a different orifice tube (OT) then "buying an orifice tube that comes in a FORD box" is the only way. Whether the OT is all covered with crud will be interesting. There is a small filter screen on it to collect junk before the actual orifice. Superheat and subcooling are not e...

Re: Forgot more than I know

When all the other components were replaced after the compressor died, ( the metering device you are referring to is called an orifice tube, it is a fixed orifice), it would have been a really good plan to have flushed the evap and hoses. An exploded compressor tends to shower the rest of the system...

Call Tim and see what he might be able to get. Direct conversation usually more helpful than going back and forth on a forum. He is a good guy.

Have refitted copper on a commercial freezer box (-40°) using flare, as was the original. Use Nylog on the flare, and be sure they are tight. However, c...

Done. Ordered. Not what you see hanging on the walls at Johnstone and Baker.

Thanks!

Re: A BIG THANK YOU !!

Doug, I am not familiar with the black hoses. Do these entirely replace the traditional red-blue-yellow setup? Or are they used for vacuum only. I can easily get 300 microns on my tree with the red and blue joined together with a special quick connect union I made (we always test the tree before we ...

A BIG THANK YOU !!

I would like to thank the heavy hitters on here, and Tim, for a super knowledgeable site! I have many years of experience with mobile, residential, and low temp commercial (freezer boxes to -40°). My full time job is with my nephew restoring vintage vehicles, and not stuff like a tri-5 chevy. Earlie...
