Re: Quality can tap?
Side can taps ROCK. My only choice for stuff in cans. https://www.ackits.com/side-mount-can-tap-for-r-134-a-cans-17241?search=side%20can%20tap Reliable, easy to use. Works on all of the standard size cans. Ever drop a nearly full can of brake cleaner, and snap off the valve stem? Yep, works for tha...

Quality can tap?
Hey everyone. I've been doing some AC work in the past and have yet to be satisfied with any can taps I've used. Before the self sealing cans came, I have a tap that simply punctured the top of the can. It worked okay. Then the self sealing cans came, and the blue adapters came out. Those suck, I co...

Re: losing all refrigerant over night.
It’s very easy for a system to hold vacuum indefinitely, but immediately leak when it sees positive pressure.
You can fill the system with nitrogen and listen for leaks. You could also charge with some UV dye.

Re: 06 Civic-Insufficient Cooling
The condenser is the primary filter on the system. When a compressor fails & sheds pieces, they go straight to the condenser. Parallel flow condensers have tiny passages - in parallel. When the trash blocks one passage, you lose cooling capacity. They are hard to block completely, and are nearl...

Re: 06 Civic-Insufficient Cooling
Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, I have no back story on this car other than that 'it has a new compressor', which we’re not even sure if that is true. However, condenser appears original so I doubt it was replaced. Also since it was a used car lot, I'm highly doubting they replaced anything ...

06 Civic-Insufficient Cooling
A friend of mine just bought an 06 Civic 4 door from a Buy-Here-Pay-Here lot and the AC is not cooling as it should. Lowest vent temps we can get are 58-62F and it just never cools down. Evacuated, vacuumed, and recharged the system by weight and here are my results. Ambient temp: 83F Vent temp: 60F...

Re: Stuck open TXV, bad compressor, ...?
Just an update, it was a bad compressor. This style compressor without a clutch has voids that break away if the compressor seizes. So, the pulley was able to move freely but internally the compressor was seized.
New compressor, TXV, condenser, and cleaned lines and it’s blowing nice and cold.

Re: Stuck open TXV, bad compressor, ...?
Upon further research, it looks like I may be dealing with a failed variable displacement solenoid.

Stuck open TXV, bad compressor, ...?
Hello all, I am working on a 2007 Toyota Camry 2.4L with inoperable AC. Here's the details ~85-90F outside, high and low side pressures both the exact same at about 145psi. I have 13v going to the compressor with the AC on, and I have verified 0 ohms resistance from ground wire connector to engine g...

Re: R12>R134a conversion: insufficient cooling
Hot water shut off valve may be leaking. Hi Tim, thanks for the reply. I will check into this next time I am near the truck. Based off of the pressure readings, is there a way to tell what the vent temperature should be close to? Also, the only things I'm not really confident about with this AC pro...
