Re: wont hold vacum but will hold pressure
The leak could be in your AC system or in your equipment; check out the equipment first for leakage.

Typically will not lose oil during a recovery/recharge. Typically will not lose oil with tiny leak over a few years (such leak is normal/expected).

Re: Pulling Vacuum
I installed all new components for the AC system on my 73 corvette and pulled a vacuum on the system. After pulling 29" of vacuum I shut off the low and high side valves on the AC manifold gauge set and then shut off the vacuum pump. The system dropped down to just over 15" in about five ...

Re: Can't figure out why I'm not getting cold air - compressor works and system is charged (I think).
QUESTION: Do you all think I should WAIT for warmer weather before taking my car in to get looked at? Yes. You have some pressure/refrigerant in the system, so moisture air won't get in. It's easier to diagnose in warmer weather. I figured for 52 degrees outside 28psi seemed OK -- but I'm a total r...

Disclaimer: I'm not an AC professional. But my advice is free, and worth every penny. 52F is pretty low temperature to try any AC diagnosis. But 28psi is pretty low. I'd get a real service gauge kit if you want to continue diagnosing by yourself. And I'd run away from what you purchased if that can ...

Re: Compressor turning question
What does a good compressor feel like? I'm not a professional, have installed about a dozen brand-new compressors is different vehicles. The center drive plate should turn with a wrench with some resistance but not forcing it. I'd rather just buy a new clutch but I don't want to buy a clutch and th...

Re: What size a/c service port cap for 2020 Corolla?
Dealer wants $13 for just one high side cap. See these on Ebay for under $1. Any idea which one? Get cap from the dealer for $13. You have a relatively new vehicle (2020) and you're getting cheap over this??? (My newest vehicle is a 2004 Frontier !) What's really sad is that there are multiple caps...

But I use 525 mineral oil with the R-12 in my 1988 Mazda truck. I use a compressor I purchased brand-new in 2014 from Tim, board sponsor. ackits.com
