Re: 1986 Corvette R-12 to R-134a Conversion
Sorry to jump into a thread that's been running a long time, but I'm still doing it  I'd suggest dumping the oil into the high side as you said and then pulling vacuum on the low side, oil has a lot of dissolved air in it, best to get it out. I've had various glass accumulators and other ve...

Sounds normal, compressor keeps running to dehumidify the air.

Re: how to correctly install peanut style compressor manifolds?
Torque isn't a big factor with these style connections. It does matter since you have to axial compress the seals, but since the sealing element will expand axially when under pressure, they can sometimes seal with almost finger tight. If you are tightening snug with a wrench, torque isn't the probl...

Re: how to correctly install peanut style compressor manifolds?
There is no trick I've ever heard of, they are used by OEMs because they are simple, very tolerant of abuse, hard to mess up. If they are leaking, you might have the wrong seal washers or else maybe sealing surfaces on one side or the other is damaged. If they are the correct SLSW (slimline seal was...

Re: TXV system with thermostat switch?
Oem systems use what is in effect a thermostat. There is a thermistor probe either in air or fins on the outlet face of the evaporator. Computer reads the temperature and decides when to cycle.

Re: Ford Ranger Compressor Cutting Out
Agree, left valve is lower cost, less aluminum, eliminated dome insulation. These things happen over the lifespan of a vehicle model. The suppliers agree in advance to a certain level of cost reductions year over year. I doubt there is any noticeable performance difference

Re: 2003 GMC yukon XL / Chevy Suburban
With a truck that old, you might not have a leak that can be found, might just have normal leakage. All AC systems leak with time, this is normal.
You are just low on refrigerant. Have the existing refrigerant recovered, have it charged to the weight listed on your under hood sticker.

Re: Installing Aftermarket AC in a Dodge Van
There shouldn't be a temp drop through the receiver, the filter in there is clogged, liquid line is bubbly. TXV can't work correctly unless it gets mostly bubble free liquid. Small amount of bubbles can be compensated for, TXV just can open more, but with a lot of bubbles TXV will be fully open and ...

Re: Issue with A/C at anything over idle
Our thread starter isn't going to be able to get that data, it doesn't stay engaged very long at 1500 RPM. Please put gauges on it, and do your best to describe what the gauges are doing. Also, could you describe the hardware? What is the compressor, what is the HVAC unit? I'm guessing the compresso...

Re: How does this pressure sensor behave?
A sensor is used to control everything high side pressure related by the computer this sensor is interfaced to, ECM or BCM Condenser fan control strategy will be operated off this sensor value, probably variable speed brushless fan motors, PWM signal controlled or possibly networked. I'd say that is...
