Re: ac keeps blowing orings
I recently encountered similar on my 1998 Nissan Frontier after my high pressure line developed a pinhole and I bought a replacement line, have a thread on this on this site started about late June. For me, it turned out that the aftermarket part was made incorrectly, and the metal end fittings woul...

Re: finding hoses for r12 to 134a conversion
May not be perfectly by the regulations, but technically one could leave the fittings as R-12 fittings and use the R-12 hoses/fittings and add R134a. You'd need to connect R134a to the center hose of the service gauge set. I actually have an R-12 service gauge set but bought a set of short adapter h...

Re: Subaru AC marginal
Hopefully she's looking at one with a 3rd pedal and row-your-own gears. The CVT and overly aggressive electronic throttle in this one combine for a "drunk teenager learning to drive stick" feeling which outweighs any a/c concerns. :mrgreen: Daughter would prefer one with manual transmissi...

Subaru AC marginal
My daughter lives in Flagstaff AZ 7000 feet up, significantly cooler than Phoenix) and she has been looking at Subaru Foresters and Outbacks under 5 years old. I rode in one of each (9am, cars sitting outside), felt that the AC was marginal in performance, even though the vent temperature did get do...

Re: Sticking high side coupler
On my 1994 Suburban I had to press down on the high side coupler to get an R134a pressure reading. I blamed that on bad design by GM, the coupler worked fine on other vehicles.

Re: Now I have a leak !!! 1998 Frontier
Bet it blows colder than my OEM Tacoma does, I do have a 4 door tacoma though. Yeah, this 1998 Frontier is a single/regular cab; I bought it with 100K on it in 2004 for my kids to drive to school/work/practices, and so they could only have one passenger and learn stick shift. My 2004 Frontier is al...

Re: Now I have a leak !!! 1998 Frontier
Yeah, trim that fitting to OEM length. Sometimes the aftermarket misses. That fitting should sit flush - or the clamp & fitting have a bending load on them. So you feel that I should open it up and fix the ends, even though it's working great now? UPDATE: I did NOT open up the system to trim th...

Re: 2005 Grand Cherokee- siezed compressor: advice please!
I assume the orifice tube is replaceable, since ackits sells it, right? I can't find any instructions specific to a 2005 grand Cherokee. Is it just a matter of removing the liquid line from the firewall manifold block and pulling the orifice tube out of the firewall end of the hose? Orifice tube is...

Re: R12 -> R134a 1989 Porsche Kit Questions
Got the system charged on Tuesday. No leaks found. Good Testing so far outside temp. 93F min. vent temp. 43F. Very good When I park in the garage there seems to be water dripping out for quite awhile. Yep, the moisture from the cab air is condensing on contact with the cold evaporator, and then is ...
