Re: How do these gauges look after charging?

And I did run a sniffer all around the compressor afterwards and got no hits.

How do these gauges look after charging?

2004 Saturn Ion. I resealed the leaking compressor, added 2.5 oz oil, installed back on the car, vacuumed 2 hours after testing 15 minutes for decay, then charged to the 15 oz spec. Outside is about 82°F. Air blows ice cold. After charging at idle. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/d106/atikovi...

If memory serves, I think you said that the original compressor seized and tossed the drive belt. Can you rotate the clutch hub by hand? If not, the compressor is indeed seized, and a new front seal kit isn't going to fix it. The alternator was seized and the a/c clutch was rusted together. It turn...

Well, I'd like to reseal the original one which worked great except for the seals. A $30 seal kit and some of my time beats spending $250 for a new compressor, especially when I'm selling the car soon.

Re: Freon leaked out. What could I have done otherwise installing used compressor on 2004 Saturn Ion?

You used a wrecking yard compressor. Odds are the seals were dry from sitting around. It held vacuum until you started spinning the compressor moving parts and adding pressure. Not sure any method is going to provide repeated correct information when using a wrecking yard compressor. IMO. That's so...

Freon leaked out. What could I have done otherwise installing used compressor on 2004 Saturn Ion?

Car had been sitting a few years and the compressor clutch as well as the alternator were seized such that it threw the belt after being started. Bought the cheapest used compressor and alternator on Ebay for about $32 each just so I could drive the car. It drives fine, so I vacuumed the system for ...

Which PAG oil for 2004 Saturn?

It's a Delphi compressor and the Saturn oil part number is 22695048 but long discontinued. Anybody know what PAG oil to use?

1986 Volvo how much R134a into an R12 system?

It has r134a fittings so I assume it was converted at some point but there are no labels indicating that. Car may have been sitting for years and has less than 10 psi now. Got it on a vacuum pump now and will check if it holds. If so, how much R134a to recharge? Here is the original R12 label, it's ...

Update. After getting a new tank, I tried adding the additional 32 oz, and it took it just fine. I guess the original tank was too low. Air is nice and much colder now.
