Re: 2017 F150 AC problem.
Hi 70monte, this question is right up my alley! You can replace just the clutch if you can find those parts. Your failure sounds to me like the clutch was slipping and melted the rubber donut clutch isolator or the clutch coil insulation or both. The compressor looks to me like an internally control...

Re: Frustrating 2010 Jeep Grand with 5.7
Ryan, I work for a tier1 A/C supplier. Those are Denso compressors 10SRE18C should mean (10 pistons, SRE (internal Denso Description), 180cc/rev, Clutched) 20 should be a 200cc/rev displacement. You should stick with the correct compressor for your vehicle. Leaks are not easy sometimes, and I never ...

Re: Saving last half-can of refrigerant
Makes sense to me. The cold bottle will condense most of the R12, and what will be left in the can will be pretty tiny mass. Better put a cap on the flare fitting while it's in the freezer, or the frost will add water to the R12

Re: Recovery vs. reading the gauges?
I agree with Dougflas, with experience and the right instruments you can diagnose under or over charge and adjust it by adding or removing in small steps. BUT, I can't even find those instruments in the amount of time it would take to just recover and recharge. Recharge by weight is the bulletproof ...

Re: CONDENSER question.....different sizes
Ah, a question right in my wheelhouse! Not all condensers have the same performance, and the technology and performance has increased with time. A current production condenser will have much better performance than one produced for 1998 MY. Yes, a smaller, lighter, thinner 2017 produced condenser co...

Re: Drier for a Motorhome (Evans Tempco)
Sounds undercharged, was the brass valve a Schrader fitting? Is this system using R-12? 1994 might have been R-134a, but being a motorhome, maybe not. Whatever it's using, you need to be able to evacuate well and charge the specified amount by weight. Picture of the valve would get you an instant an...

Re: Driving car with VDC and no refrigerant
jamyers, My understanding of your first post is that there is no clutch. This type of variable will spin all the time (the swashplate will spin but at a very near 0 angle). You will ruin the compressor if it manages to lose it's oil, but I don't think that's any more or less likely to happen with no...

Re: hardline and Swagloc fittings for auto a/c
I run an A/C lab and we use tons of Swagelok gaugeable compression fittings, they will work just fine for your truck, so will the hard SS tubing. Agree that if your bender has skill then SS tubing should look pretty nice. Swagelok make adapter fittings to go from the gaugeable fitting to male AN. I'...
