Re: New compressor hard to turn by hand

Next time buy from Tim at Arizona Mobile Air !!!

I've bought at least three compressors and an evaporator from Arizona Mobile Air for various vehicles over the past 2.5 decades. And I bought a vacuum pump from them for my work laboratory.

Do you know how to visually check if the AC compressor clutch is engaging when the AC is on?

Not uncommon at all. Auto AC systems are designed to leak a tiny amount out of the compressor seal, to keep the shaft lubricated.

Re: Oil Balance Question

Thanks for the help. I'm almost finished with getting the condenser out. Evaporator has been reinstalled under the dash. One other question I have is about the factory specification for the refrigerant amount. The sticker under the hood says 23 oz, while the service manual states the capacity as 24...

Re: Discharge pipe burst - add how much oil?

Car is a Ford Focus 2009 with factory charge 600 grams and 200 ml PAG oil. After replacing the discharge pipe that had a big crack in it 5 inch from outlet I wonder hos much oil I need to add. I could see oil sprayed out but impossible to tell exactly how much. I just added about 40 ml but I think ...

Re: Dodge A/C Help

Would not hurt to check the AC clutch gap.

Had the gap issue on my '98 Frontier last summer, removed one shim to fix.

Re: 1969 Chevelle SS 396- factory air specs

Typically, though, refrigerant is measured in ounces of weight while the oil is measured in fluid ounces. Myself: I've always added refrigerant oil by volume as well, using a plastic graduated cylinder. It's graduated in ml, so about 25 to 30ml for an ounce of refrigerant oil. I do have an electron...

Re: 1969 Chevelle SS 396- factory air specs

Not a ton of difference between oz. in weight and fluid oz.

1 fluid oz. is like 29.6 ml

1 oz. weight, USA is 28.4 grams, or like 28.4 ml if water.

Re: First timer - In a bit deep replacing main components

There is a plastic insert on the small port side that doesn't seem removable, could I spray right through this? (and capture the output with a hose on the big port to a bucket). Could that plastic insert be an orifice tube or some replaceable screen? Ya' got good pictures of that you can upload? An...
