Re: VW GTI AC Compressor Groan

R12a is a mixture of propane and butane. Why would anyone want to charge their A/C system with something that flammable?

Re: Getting started in AC; DIY needs advice! !!!

It just seems like the answers I getting is; if you're ac is not blowing as cold as it used to and you'd like for it to be cooler the answers I'm getting is drain the system; weigh what was in it; put correct amount to specs back in. Seems like an AWFUL expense to bear if it just needs a little fre...

Re: Getting started in AC; DIY needs advice! !!!

Let me go at it a different way: Say for instance; 1. You put your gauges on a vehicle; what should the readings be in 85-90 degree with 90% humidity if the system is OK. 2. Do you read the gauges at a certain rpm? 3. If the system is low and you add freon; do you install it at a certain rpm? 4. If...

Re: Will a Sanden 508 be adequate?

Thanks Tim. Do you have such a 510? I'm done with parts store failures. It will need to have a serpentine style pulley. If this works, I'll be doing this same swap on my diesel Wagoneer when it gets back on the road.

Will a Sanden 508 be adequate?

So the whole 87 Chevy Dually project just took a turn. I'm upgrading to a serpentine belt and part of the kit has a mount for a R4. Well I have never been a fan of those, and there is a kit for mounting a 508 into the R4 brackets. Will the 508 be adequate for cooling the crew cab in AZ heat? Will th...

Re: Saga with my 87 Chevy Truck continues

Found the leak. When the liquid that I thought was just condensate drain water didn't evaporate, I checked and it appears to be PAG oil. So new evaporator is on the way. And just to add insult to injury, the heater core started leaking also. And the clutch on the new compressor likes to slip if ever...
