Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
It appears to me that the TXV just isn't working right for some reason. Is the sensing bulb making good metal-to-metal contact with the tube, and Is the interface of the bulb and tube well insulated with Prestite™? Is the equalizer tube hooked up, and is the fitting snug? The temperature differentia...

Re: High-side Pressure is Low But Air Vent Temp is Normal
The low high-side pressure could indicate a compressor problem, but it's very difficult if not impossible to pressure-test and performance-test a system at such low ambient temperatures. I suggest waiting until the ambient temperatures in your area rise to 80°F or above, and then proceed with diagno...

Re: Insulate high side liquid line?
I vote for insulating the HP line, which would ease the condenser's job somewhat and make for a more efficient system—especially in a Corvette, which can use all the help it can get.
I'll look forward to seeing the system pressures and center-vent temperatures in PSIG and °F, respectively.

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
The new R/D has a sight glass window. When the compressor kicks on the glass fills with fluid, when it kicks off, foaming and bubbles, and the fluid level lowers. Although a sight glass isn't normally used for gauging the amount-of-charge in an R-134a system (only the weight of the charge is), the ...

Danny, The file size of your photos is probably too big. Use a photo compression app and compress them to 500 KB or less and they should post just fine.

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
As mentioned going to replace the R/D then the TXV with an OEM unit. Although I’ve ordered OEM from the dealer in a “GM” or Delco box only to find it’s the same aftermarket part I had. Interesting about the "GM" TXV. One tip-off that it's a true OEM component is that it will probably cost...

Re: PAG oil in my R134a converted Mustang?
I've been thinking about the new, parallel flow condenser vs using my good, OEM quality R12 condenser. I like the idea of the parallel flow but chinese made stuff really doesn't give me confidence. At the moment, I'm leaning toward just flushing my OEM condenser and using it. What you could do is p...

Re: PAG oil in my R134a converted Mustang?
... Hopefully I'm going to be doing the ac work on this car later in the spring after I get the car on the road. I will definitely flush the oil out of the compressor. Since I'm reusing the evaporator, I'll flush it with solvent and let it dry. Sounds good. Then go ahead and add PAG oil in the appr...

I read last week that a certain top-tier FEDGOV official wants to eliminate ALL refrigerants and air conditioning systems. So this latest news doesn't surprise me.

Re: 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport
I’m going to start with a new Rec/Drier. This problem has followed two TXV and Evaporators. The constant is the R/D. Then if problem persist, I will order an OEM TXV and install that. I’m back to work for a few days so I will update when I get the new R/D in. Thanks again. Mark, I didn't re-read th...
