Re: Cooling issues over time

To me, the intermittent clutch cycling off (for too long to be considered normal operation of a cycling clutch orifice tube system) thing sounds like a compressor discharge anti-overheat temp switch tripping, possibly due to a faulty switch or a serious refrigerant charge issue. These switches are p...

Re: Whatever happened to that ultra-cold Ford truck?

I think these calculations are meant for a 100% fresh air condition. Such a cold evap could still function properly out in the desert where things get really dry. However, AC has to work nearly about everywhere (except sub-freezing ambient), and that's one reason as for why most block style TXVs are...

Re: Expansion valve

Your best bet on finding one is the second hand market. Trying to source a brand new one for such an old vehicle will likely yield poorly assembled, and who knows what's inside the power head (=how much oil it returns to the compressor in critical operating conditions), Chinese garbage.

Re: gauge readings

You never mentioned a vacuum, and leaving air in the system causes serious issues.

Re: Volvo V50 2011 very high vibrating highside pressure

A severe oil overcharge can make the condenser completely useless (internally coated/pooled with excess oil to the point of being unable to exchange any heat). Still, checking if the orifice tube looks dirty is a great way to check for compressor wear (abuse creates serious wear), keeping in mind th...

Sanden SD7V16 (or PXV16) compressor? If it's this one, i think it's supposed to fully destroke once a restriction keeps enough refrigerant from flowing around.

Re: Low oil level in the refrigerant

Don't know how this test works, but it likely checks for how much oil is circulating together with the refrigerant, and a low oil circulation rate can also be caused by a lower than normal refrigerant charge. That said, having a FSM at hand would be the best option, but anyway Denso states ( here ) ...

Re: *FIXED**dying comp, cooling fan replaced* Old Delphi CVC-125 variable comp (TXV system) exhibiting a strange behavio

For anyone interested in the bubbling noise i experienced, according to this Denso patent https://patents.google.com/patent/JP2006200844A/en, it seems like it's entirely normal occurrence at low heat loads due to the TXV filling the evaporator up with a turbulent liquid refrigerant+oil flow while si...

Re: gauge readings

Previous owner or some workshop brainiac he/she entrusted the car to likely messed it up pretty bad trying to fix some cooling issue.
