There are different versions based on the model number. But yes, there is a model that mounts like the 508.

If it is a Sanden 508. That's an old compressor to begin with, new or not.

Depending on the size of the second evap core, would you restrict airflow, creating an even bigger issue? If more cooling is needed, put a rear unit in the back before adapting a second core in a series.

Is the high side open on your gauges? For starters, make sure it is closed. What's the temp you're trying to change the system in? This time of year can make it harder to charge in the cold.

Yes, sir, that sounds like a receiver/dryer (R/D) to me. In fact, nowadays that configuration is very common.

I'm not familiar with your particular component, but usually, there's a removable plug at the bottom of the R/D so that you can replace the desiccant element should you need to open the ...
