Re: Old R12 System
To update in case anyone wonders; I swapped out compressors and the system functions perfectly. Great !!! We like to hear the updates. Three weeks ago I removed a thin AC clutch shim to restore full operation of my 1998 Frontier AC clutch; I don't think that I posted anything when I had that interm...

Re: 2009 Honda Accord Intermittent AC Cooling
Check the compressor clutch gap. Bohica is wondering if the AC clutch is slipping, causing your intermittent cooling. Visually check to see if the center of the AC compressor is turning when this lack of cooling is observed. Two weeks ago I had similar issue on my 1998 Frontier - the AC clutch was ...

Re: AC stops working when I rev the engine (live data video)
Hello, I have Audi A6 from 2006. When I rev the engine past 2000 rpm the AC stops working. If I rev the engine again I hear a hissing sound and the AC starts working normally. I made a video with live data. As you can see from it, the gas pressure drops immediately after I rev the engine and the ev...

Re: 1979 Lincoln R12 System - Blows colder at idle
There are few shops in town that still work with R-12 systems, and the ones that do said that they can recover my refrigerant but that it cannot be re-used because it will be contaminated, so they will have to charge me for new refrigerant. Is this true? I'm under the impression that the recovery s...

Re: ac quit blowing cold suddenly
Good. Sounds like you have a small leak, and enough R134a leaked out over the 5 years to where you noticed lack of cooling. If the cooling loss occurs again sooner than that, then time to find the leak and repair it. NEVER ADD ANY SEALER OR REFRIGERANT CONTAINING SEALER !!! If the AC clutch is slipp...

Re: ac quit blowing cold suddenly
You state that the compressor is always engaged, good. I'd get real gauge set and measure both high and low refrigerant pressures at about 1800 rpm. Post those. No more adding R134a (never add any sealers or refrigerant containing sealer) blindly either. You had a leak a few years ago, that did not ...

Re: Evap freezing at low fan speeds
Ambient Temp: 80F System cools great. ....Problem doesn't occur when rear AC is also running. Did you add the refrigerant by weight from cans, and assume 12 oz from each? Because there is some loss, and some refrigerant should be used to purge air from the service gauge lines. 80F is pretty low to ...

Re: R134a port adapter: leaks and questions
2. Besides idiot proofing, is the adapter strictly speaking necessary? I have a manifold set, can I not charge the system without any R134a adapter whatsoever? Technically, I see no reason why one couldn't charge R134a through an R-12 low side service port. While I think this could make it confusin...

Re: 1983 Audi UR Quattro A/C clutch removal
Likely will depend upon how much room/clearance there is. Stuff like radiator and shroud might need removal. If the AC is still R-12, I definitely understand your issue. What's the issue with the AC clutch? Need a new bearing? Slipping can sometimes be due to too-large of gap; I just removed an AC c...

Time to get to 30 psi vacuum? Yes, longer than 10 seconds, may take several minutes !marininn wrote:The gauge did get to 30 vacuum pretty quick so maybe it was just the hose getting vacuumed. How long does it normally take for the psi to drop? More than 10 seconds?
