Re: Rotate compressor or move ports to side - generally possible? (with specifics for FS10 compressor)
You have been previously asked not to post links or info regarding other vendors of AC equipment. For 2 reasons, first that such vendors do nothing to support this excellent website, which has a treasure trove of info. Secondly, because Tim, the owner, also sells quality realistically priced AC comp...

Re: r12 replacement
1. you can get R12 on Facebook Marketplace OR 2. back in the day, ppl simply removed the compressor, drained it, blew thru the lines using DRY compressed air OR nitrogen (available at welding supplies), and refilled with ester oil (POE), (making sure to fill the comp with the correct amount, so meas...

I am thinking you can use the same valve. But give the other advisors a chance to weigh in. And please be patient, it is a long holiday weekend

Condensers, if you need one, are truly not that expensive. Please remember that Tim, the site owner here, has good parts at good prices at his other website, ACkits.com, Way cheaper than another truck

Just re-read your other thread.

Follow the sticker on the comp.
Are you sure you want to put a 22 YO comp back into service, or replace it now while everything is open.
You can get a good price on a decent new comp from the site owner, Tim, at ACkits.com
In any event, avoid a reman comp, they are junk

Re: 2017 Chevrolet Silverado R1234YF
So what caused the AC to quit?
Leak?
Compressor grenaded?
System will hold vacuum evidently, but it can hold vacuum and still leak under pressure, and vice versa.
If comp grenaded (did you hear any bad noises?) then you also need to replace the condenser as well as the comp

Re: Inline Filter--High Side or Low Side?
Well, charging is not as easy as it once was. In the R12 days all you had to do was clear the sight glass. Those days are long gone. There are dedicated refrigerant scales, and there have been posters here who have managed to use a postal scale. The weigh in method is truly the best way to go as Joh...

Re: Thoughts on putting a 12V AC compressor in-line to use when parked or 120V plugged in?
IMO whichever comp is off, while the other is running, would actually block the flow of refrigerant. It would actually be very difficult to plumb up a resi comp, the fittings are no where near compatible. Furthermore, careful attention would need to be paid to the type of compressor oil used in the ...
