39 degrees is great !!zj96sc wrote:Definitely not, 39 rocks. Upset with the 60-64F at idle.Tim wrote:Your upset with 39-degree air?
At idle, lower rpm, plus you need that cooling air flow, try the new fan clutch; makes sure all shrouds are there and that condenser fins are clean.

Hopefully shop put some UV dye in the system since it was low, to help find any future leak/lack of cooling.Ken David wrote:Decided to take it to an A/C shop and get it filled correctly by weight (even though I prefer servicing my own vehicles).
System was low ~1lb (1.5 lb total capacity).....

Re: Compressor engages, then doesn't for the rest of the day
Right off the bat it sounds to me like a clutch problem. The coil could be gradually failing or the clutch gap might be too wide . That's exactly what I was thinking if it's getting 12-14 volts at the compressor clutch and not engaging. Not much else it could be except oily residue on the AC clutch.

Re: 2006 denali cooling problem
Need pressures read at that rpm after a couple of minutes. I suspect that you're still low on R134a. High pressures typically get to 260-280 psi. With the dual air system, more refrigerant required than with front-only.Cusser wrote:Are your low and high pressure readings taken at about 1500 rpm?

Re: Tell me about my numbers (high/low sides), please...
The car is a 2009 BMW 328i. These are the numbers after it was recharged: Outside air temperature: 79 degrees Vent temperature: 36 degrees Low side pressure: 29 psi High side pressure: 157 psi Obviously, 36 degrees out of the vents is pretty awesome. How are the low and high side pressures? What wo...

Re: Turning off a/c compressor before staring engine
On most vehicles, the AC compressor and other accessories are not on the Start circuit, are on the Run circuit only. So it shouldn't matter, but OK to do so if you desire.
