Re: gauges leak out freon after use

Post by penguins25 »

i switched the low and high hoses with adapters and the low side of manifold leaked again
i took the manifold back peice off and didnt see any seals so i put it back together and ordered a new pair of gauges

i put the hoses back on the correct sides and pulled another vacuum
now the low side is holding and the high side is leaking

also i noticed the low side needle doesnt pull all the way down to 30 however the high side does
so i dont know it its the gauges or vacuum pump

im going get the fitting seals from napa
im also going to pull a vacuum on my new gauges when they come in

i got the cheap gauges there like 60.00 but worked good in the past

Inexpensive tools that do not work are the most expensive of all

These are the hose seals

Tim the forum owner has very competitive prices on quality products, he has a nice manifold, too bad u already ordered from somewhere else

Is your pump electric or compressed air powered

i got a cheap vacuum pump as well
it stalls if you start it under vacuum
but it pulls a vacuum

i was thinking about getting a quality pump and gauge set but all the other ones on ebay look cheap as well

Is the pump electric?
Doesn't sound like it can pull much of a vacuum.

A vacuum pump will last you a lifetime, why not get something decent? No doubt you will be doing more AC work in your future years.
I have news for you, the experts on here are not getting their tools on eBay.
Again a cheap tool that does not do what it is supposed to is actually the most expensive of all
