1985 Silverado k30 w/454 eng a/c type and hoses/lines?

Post by chugalugg »

I'm trying to find the correct a/c system for my 1985 Silverado K30 4x4 w/454 engine. I believe it came with the A6 compressor which is good since I have all new oem brackets and I see an aluminum version A6 is available.
I'm having issues also with the correct maifold hose and the two other hose assemblies that the AC Delco site lists for my 85. the manifold hose is 15-3925, one of the aluminum lines shows to be 15-33071 and the other is 15-33072. Only one is available the 15-33072. I would prefer not to have hoses made to fit I'm going for the oem look. thanks for the help.

I’m not positive, but I think that truck would have used an R-4 compressor.

You might also consider having your original hoses/lines restored to maintain the OEM look. There is at least one supplier out there doing such work.

When I reworked my '87, I got the lines through ackits. Just email them through the website and he can get you the correct part. Mine was factory equipped with the H6 compressor.

thank you for all the replies. I've emailed and called ackits for advice and parts but no call or email yet?? I remember the 84 K20 3/4 ton used the R4 compresssor because it had the 350 engine. Mine has the 454 and fairly certain it came with an A6. I was to go to phx to pull the complete ac off a 85 C30 454 and it had the A6 compressor but the guy sold the truck he was parting out. lost out there for every nut and bolt I needed. I think in 86 they went to the da6 w/serpintine system, I think??

1984 was the last year for the A6 in that truck. 1985 was either an R4 or an HR6 / DA6 depending on where & when it was built.

The OEM hose set is probably hard to find given the age. A used set can be rebuilt with fresh rubber at most commercial hose shops.

The A6 was never happy as a CCOT compressor. How much of the OEM A/C is still in your truck?
