Hi.
New to this forum, but it was highly recommended... hope you can help.
I'm restoring a 1980 chev SB 4x4 p/u to original condition, to use as a daily driver, and have come to the A/C part of it.
It came from factory w/ A/C, so I have the original components, less the compressor.
I do have a new GM R134a compressor (p/n 88964863), but do need all the rest of the components (hoses, accumulator, evaporator, etc), as mine are R-12 & 38 years old .
I would really like the evaporator core to be close to identical to the original, so it fits properly in the firewall housing.
Please help.
Thanks!

I don't see why you think that a new evaporator would be needed.

cross contamination from different refrigerants is why, and the fitting sizes / orifice tubes may be differant

Agree in your case, fittings and potential refrigeration oil residue.
