My exp. fitting a second condensor

Fitted many 2nd condensor to vehicles in 90--115f conditions for various reasons In tropical and high desert temps .VERY VERY successful

main reason to reduce high pressures and can also prevent high pressure leaks in a flare system.

Anyways..
Ford 2007 diesel World pickup 270--290 head pressure vehicle NEW. Compressor was also knocking . Vehicle been back to dealer many times . Airflow over condensor was not enough . Possibly overcharged re compressor noise .
Inspected the same 6 other hire vehicles same results ,all poor cooling performance .
Recharged with less weight of refrigerant cooling improved but was fairly hopeless .Pressure better but still higher than liked .
The modifications .
fitted second condensor with 12 inch fan under pickup body

***Recharged system
using combo results of ,vent temp--sight glass--low and high pressure, sub cooling ,no excessive compressor flooding although tx valve
always measure pressures at idle and 1500 rpm
High Pressures 150-160 at liquid line at evaporator 90-110f day time temp
low pressure 20-35 avg 25
cycles thermostat idle or 1500rpm
Vent temps 45f all doors open on a 110f day

lowers operating pressures which allows 98%+++ or greater system refrigerant capacity
---solid liquid line makes the evaporater work at its best rather than being fed partially gaseous refrigerant
---next"" high side "" lower pressure liquid line supply to evap ,, equals = low temp refrigerant == more efficient evaporator function
liquid line 150/160psi = 115f = liquid line feed temp to evap
down from 290psi = 155f

over 20 deg cel drop in liquid temperature . HUGE

shows how poorly designed some systems are

Flash gas is the inlet liquid boiling refrigerant inside evaporator using some of the BTU capacity of evap to do so .[270 psi down to 25 psi] Higher refrigerant temps the worse the problem. Flash gas is simple but still has books written about it.
Back in 70`s aircon fridges and automotive operated partially around 150psi . These systems worked well .

If you can post some pictures of the plumbing. I know I've been asked a few times over the years how to attach a second condenser.

hi
At firewall liquid line evap connection.
Both liquid line are 1x male and 1x female no6 fittings
xtra condensor inlet no8. In this case u use a step up fitting no6 hose with no8 fitting
condensor out let is no 6

In 1x conversion the evap connections were no5 .These were cuttoff and no6 welded on.

hi

install the second condenser in a series hose arrangement . Many car makers do it this way . Never seen a parallel system .
