Can't really tell if that is acme but i do not think so. Seems to be the usual 1/4"

The white object to the right...is THAT the seal that came out of the hose-end connector? If so, I never saw anything like it.

ok got the Santech MT1760 ordered
when i charge the system with the 30lb freon tank
do i put it in the upright position when i charge on the scale
also how long should i pull a vacuum on the system

upright for sure. If you invert you will get liquid, a no no unless you are a super pro
for your situation I would vac for an hr.
Would be nice to get a ball valve on the center port so you can close off the vacuum pump easier and make the switch to the refrigerant tank easier.
ball valve will have male on one end female on other
Most of us use a so-called "tree" with tees and valves so we can close off vacuum or tank separately
there are even 4-port manifolds to also make this switchover easier
Something like this

Yes. Doing that will introduce refrigerant vapor into the system, which is preferred. Charge only through the low side and leave the high-side hand-wheel closed on the Manifold Gauge Set. Evacuate for 15 minutes, then let it set for 15 minutes to ensure that it holds a vacuum. If so, go ahead and turn the vacuum pump back on...the longer time the better. If it's my own vehicle, I have evacuated for five or six hours since I'm not on a schedule, like a commercial shop would be. Thirty minutes is the usual time a shop will evacuate. But in your case, I'd shoot for a minimum of one hour.
