T-Bird a simple oil swap, and these are good with either refrigerant. Should have conversion fittings on these, as required by law if you're running R134a.

No, no, no - that's not what I'm asking ! You both replied on how to keep a compressor "ready" during the winter. I'm asking about summer driving, whether switching compressor off every few minutes or leaving compressor on full-time and blending in some heated air is better for long-term ...

I've always said to turn it on once a month in the winter (Arizona :)) for about 30 seconds to keep the seals oiled. Modern vehicles turn it on when the defrost is kicked in as well.

The only free answer I am giving out today. As others have said, overcharged. If the PF condenser is plumbed correctly, you should be able to match the original R12 spec. Yeah, put 5 ounces total in it and go with that.
I was going to say 5.7. Either way, I don't think oil will be the reason for any issues down the road.

When you mention the "aftermarket" system, I take that to mean the vehicle never came with A/C from the factory. IS this correct, and you installed a universal compressor, cond, and some form of evaporator system?
