Re: R134a mixed with pag and poe

Hi all, new to this forum. Just have a quick question. I had R134a stored in my recovery tank that’s previously been in systems using pag46 oils. I was recovering ac out of my 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid which uses nd-11 Poe oil, which I realized after recovering all the refrigerant into my tank conta...

Re: R134a mixed with pag and poe

Did you use an automotive RRR machine to recover the refrigerant? The reason I ask is because RRR machines typically collect any recovered oil in a separate graduated container so that the technician can add back into the system the same amount that came out. The recovered oil normally doesn't mix w...

Re: Fan does not bring down high head pressure

Both of the pressures are too high. I'm surprised you get any cooling with a low side of 40-45 PSI. A reading of ~45 PSI means an evaporator temperature of ~50°F and center vent temperatures even higher than that--hardly adequate for comfort on a hot day. Try misting the condenser with a garden hose...

Re: Gs300 new ac components but immediately shuts off

That 'Code 23-Pressure Switch Circuit' is also suspect. Are you still seeing that, or has it gone away? The RPM sensor on the compressor rarely if ever goes bad. I don't think the ECM will let you bypass or disconnect it without introducing some other problem. I recall that you mentioned changing th...

Re: Metric to SAE/standard A/C plumbing questions

I worked in an industrial chemistry laboratory for over 4 decades. SwageLok fittings are absolutely the best, and the by-far most-common fittings used in gas (and liquid) chromatography. What that means for us here is that these fittings were leak free for hydrogen (explosive) and for helium molecu...

Re: Metric to SAE/standard A/C plumbing questions

The Swagelok straight union fittings available to go from a 8mm OD to a 3/8" (-6) OD tube can be had in 316 stainless steel, or brass versions. I'm pretty sure both are harder metals than the aluminum tubing, so either should work mechanically according to Swagelok's website. Which would be a ...

Re: Metric to SAE/standard A/C plumbing questions

Seems like the best solution is to use the Swagelok transition fitting to connect the larger and smaller tubes instead of TIG welding or brazing them. Although any time you combine (stainless steel?) ferrule-type fittings with aluminum tubing (electrolysis factor due to dis-similar metals), you'll h...

I'm not familiar with the acronym "MIO." What does it mean, "Metric Input Output?"
