Universal Condenser

Post by greazer2b »

Hello I just joined this forum have a question.
I’m working on a 1985 300sd. I’ve replaced the Evaporator and expansion valve, drier, and compressor.
I performed a complete flush along with using Nitrogen. I’m wanting to install a New Universal condenser which I purchased about 4 yrs ago know this day would come.

I will be working on mounting it tomorrow and had a question about orientation of High-Low fittings,
Which is up High or Low?
I believe it’s HP down by looking at the old unit, wraps under then up the side and the across the top to the right side were both line sets are connected HP/LS.
I appreciate being able to use this forum and looking forward to your suggestions.
Thanks greazer2b

Were the two fittings on the condenser sealed tightly? If so, it should still be serviceable.

The condenser, its lines, and the receiver/dryer (up to the Thermostatic Expansion Valve [TXV]) are all on the high-pressure side of the system. You would want the thicker (HP vapor) line coming from the compressor connected at the top of the condenser, and the thinner (HP liquid) line connected at the bottom of the condenser so that a steady stream of HP liquid refrigerant will be provided to the TXV.
