IMO the amount of oil will not change. I would strongly consider getting a new (never rebuilt) comp from Tim the owner of this website. His prices for a quality comp cannot be beat

You might also consider replacing any rubber hoses with modern barrier hoses because the originals, installed when the truck was new and used R-12, weren't of the barrier design and might leak out over time.

I agree with getting new hoses. But you should keep the special shaped fittings on the old OEM hoses and have them re-used on the new hoses. You can usually have this done by a radiator shop. There are two (if I remember correctly) uniquely shaped fittings. The fitting is ends are standard. But the shape of them is designed to fit with the space in the engine bay.
